Very much post-launch and plenty of new stuff!

The Yoga of Strength launched on April 19, 2019. If you have not yet gotten your copy, for the month of June I am offering the e-book for free (!) to anyone who signs up for my mailing list. You can do that here!

On June 15, 2019, I will be formally releasing Clovir: An Overture, the first anthology of short stories set in the world of The Yoga Trilogy. If you are on the mailing list, you will get that for free! You can find the link to that here!

In July 2019, I will be releasing a prequel novella, The Amaril Company, for free, to everyone on my mailing list. More information about that can be found here!

I have released a bunch of new Reflections since my last post! They are Journey, Melancholy, Joy, Liberation, Strength, Honesty, and Community! Also, I will be releasing everything I have already released, plus five more unreleased Reflections, this fall in my first non-fiction book, titled “Knight of Sophia: A Book of Reflections.” Stay tuned for more details!

Much love,

Lots of new stuff!

So, let’s get into it! The free story in Clovir: An Overture, Da Bones, has been released. Click here to read!

Four new Reflections (as my essays are being called now): Intuition, Risk, Maya and Lila, and Dharma.

Finally, Goodreads reviews of The Yoga of Strength are starting to pile up. Please have a look here!

Just over a week left until launch day! This is getting exciting! If you have read the book and would like to support its success, please click here to read about reviewing the book for me!

Much love,

Two new essays + two new stories + reddit Fantasy Author of the Day

Whew - long time since I updated this section. I wrote an essay about dogma. And one about fantasy.

I also released two new stories in the Clovir: An Overture short story series: Part VII - Boots and Part VII - Red Adharmi I.

Also, on April 22, 2019, between 11:30 AM and 1:30 AM on April 23 Newfoundland Time (9:00 AM - 12:00 AM Eastern Time), I will be answering questions on reddit as the Fantasy Author of the day. I will also be streaming on Twitch with friends. I will be reading some of The Yoga of Strength, some of the Clovir: An Overture stories, talking about my background and other books I’ve read. We may even play some board games.

I hope to see you there!

Much love,

The Blue Butterfly

I wrote a fable in tribute to the life of the sister of a dear friend of mine. Shirlee Lacour is my friend’s name, and her sister was Pamela Spratt. The story is called The Blue Butterfly, and you can read it here.

Merry Christmas and much love,

New story! Pre-orders back up! T-shirts!

Hey folks,

Thank you to everyone for their kind words about finding a publisher! I am buoyed by the outpouring of support! I cannot wait to get the book into your hands!

I have a few announcements this evening. The first is that the next story in Clovir: An Overture has been released. It’s called Robin of Erifracia. Click here to read!

The second announcement is that pre-orders are available again! The goodies from the Publishizer campaign are no longer available, but you can get a signed copy of the book early if you pre-order. There will be a cut-off date for pre-orders - if you don’t have yours in by December 31, 2018, you will have to wait for the official launch date (April 19, 2019)! If you pre-order from me, I will sign the book for you, and write a personal note to you if you’d like! Plus you can take solace in the fact that you are supporting me entirely - every book store and online retailer does take a cut of the sales. If you buy from me you are totally supporting an independent artist! A little printed invoice for a pre-order would sure make a great stocking stuffer - just sayin’! :-) Click here to pre-order!

Finally, speaking about Christmas, I am going to attempt another t-shirt printing run from Lonely Planet! They use silk-screening and the quality of the shirts is solid! We will do regular black t-shirts and women’s v-necks again. If you are interested, please e-mail me. I already owe the folks who bought The Librarian tier a t-shirt, plus one extra, so I only need seven more t-shirt orders to get this run printed. Once I have the required twelve, I will start sending out invoices for $25. If you live in the St. John’s area, I will simply deliver it to you. If you live outside of the city, I will charge you a flat rate of $5 for shipping. Sound interesting? Please flip me an e-mail at and tell me what type of t-shirt you want and the size! The deadline is November 10, so you have just over a month to get your order in!

Much love,

A publisher! The plan! And a release date!

I recorded a YouTube video for this - then it turned out horrendously shaky so I am not sharing it with you. Instead, enjoy these words on your screen!

We have a publisher! Atmosphere Press will be publishing the book. It is an outfit out of Austin, Texas, that uses a flipped model for publishing. Essentially, the cost of editing the book and designing the layout and cover will be borne by us in the first instance. It is not self-publishing, as this is a curated outfit. They have standards, standards that The Yoga of Strength meets (woot!)

This was not a decision taken lightly. I had several offers, including two 'traditional' deals that would have not seen me pay a penny up front, but would see me lose several rights in the mix.

Part of what Atmosphere offers is a degree of control over the final product that traditional publishers retain for themselves. While this was not fatal for my consideration of a traditional publisher, it certainly made the Atmosphere deal all the more desirable. While I am looking forward to collaborating with Nick Courtright, the executive editor of Atmosphere who has graciously agreed to personally edit the book himself, I will have final say over edits, as well as the book design and cover.

Atmosphere also offers 100% of the royalties, similar to self-publishing. Once the book is in print, all of the profit goes back to me. There are expenses that need to be paid, specifically production of the rest of the books, so I will make sure that the second and third books, as well as a book of related short fiction, will see the light of day. I am earmarking the first dollars earned to pay for the second and third books in the Trilogy, The Yoga of Pain and The Yoga of Connection, as well as the book of short stories, Tales of Sight. Speaking of which, I have the full titles to the books:

The Yoga of Strength: A Fable - Tome 1 of The Yoga Trilogy

The Yoga of Pain: A Love Story - Tome 2 of The Yoga Trilogy

The Yoga of Connection: A Healing Song - Tome 3 of The Yoga Trilogy

Tales of Sight: A Companion to The Yoga Trilogy

The stories that make up Tales of Sight will be Clovir: An Overture (released before The Yoga of Strength), The Atikan Interlude (released between The Yoga of Strength and The Yoga of Pain), and A Liserian Chronicle (released between The Yoga of Pain and The Yoga of Connection). The majority will be released for free on the website, though there will be a few extras specifically for the collection.

Finally, we have a release  date for The Yoga of Strength (drum roll please):

April 19, 2019!

On my 34th birthday, to a day, I will become a published author. I am so excited to put the book in your hands and I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

April 19 too far off? If you pre-order the book, you will get access to the novel three weeks to a month (not one hundred percent sure about when) prior to the launch date. Everyone who supported the book through Publishizer will receive their books early. I will be launching a pre-order site in the coming days. The cut off for pre-orders will likely be some time in February, so if you want the book early and missed the Publishizer campaign, please consider pre-ordering a copy!

If you do get an early copy, I would humbly ask that you consider leaving a review of the book on Amazon and/or Goodreads on launch day. Lots of reviews will send the book up the seller lists and has the potential to generate lots of interest.

Phew! That’s it for tonight folks. I hope you enjoy the rest of your weeks! I will keep you posted as the updates come down.

Many thanks and much love,
